Space Travel
After 14 hours of what felt like space travel from LAX to Manila, with the flight attendants dressed in full protective gear, we are now safely in Manila!
As we left Utah, we said our last goodbyes to two of our grandsons, Sterling and Bennett.
Sterling was by far the hardest goodbye for me because he's my little buddy. My grandmother taught me how simple a grandparent/grandchild relationship is ... I love you and you love me. I cried leaving this little three year old and look forward to his visit in Olongapo once the world settles down.
Our oldest son Jared drove us to the Salt Lake airport. We had borrowed Eden's grandmother's Lincoln Town Car for our time in Utah (thank you, Virginia Jensen!) and our 30+ year old son squeezed into the middle front seat (thank you, Jared!), since our luggage occupied the entire rest of the car.
I'd say it's a reasonable amount of luggage for a three year outing.
We traveled with four amazing mission couples all headed to missions in the Philippines ... Kara & Todd Liston, Linda & Brad Waddoups, Julia & Mark Ballif & their children, and Kimberly & Scott Lohner.
Steve reminded me that I can sleep anywhere.
And I think Steve has already picked up a new thumbs-up habit.
We survived the Covid swab test at the Manila airport. For those interested, it was a double-nostril and throat test and all I can say is this, "Charlie, that really hurt!" It was awful. Glad that is now a memory.
And now, just like that, we've safely crossed an ocean and are on the other side of the world.
We're quarantining at the Manila Marriott until we get our Covid test results back, which may be as early as this afternoon.

So glad you made it and are in the Philippines. Who will drive you to your mission?
